Cerro la Vieja Eco-Hotel and Spa was created by Alfonso Jaén a Panamanian visionary who transformed the old horse property back into a lush rain-forest it once was by planting 10,000 trees per year and adopting sustainable ecology practices. The term "Cerro la Vieja" translates as "old woman hill" into English and refers to the large mountain or hill that the eco-hotel and spa faces.

Spanards would call Cerro la Vieja a Posada or  Inn as it is quaint and has only 22 rooms.  There are also two villas located on our waterfall property just a short 10 Minute Drive from the main Eco-hotel, called La Tavida.

The Rainforest Spa is purposely and strategically located close the energy of Cerro la Vieja and you can feel the natural vortex of the ancient volcanoes that combine the naturally designed spa with the appropriate therapy.

The Spa is the ideal place for you to relax and indulge with natural therapies. Our therapies integrate the use of mineral-rich clay, aromatic herbal essences and rain-forest plants exclusive to the region.
